Student Experience at AP-S/URSI 2020

Calling all students! Join the Steering Committee as they strive to provide a program that encourages the professional growth of its future leaders. Student opportunities at AP-S/URSI 2020 include the Student and Young Professionals’ networking events, volunteer opportunities, and student competitions.

Student Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers aid in the efficient operation of the symposium by being available to assist when a need arises. AP-S/URSI 2020 needs student volunteers for a variety of activities. Volunteers will be selected on a first come, first served basis. You will be asked to select the number of shifts to fulfill the amount of time required (a minimum of 20 hours). Volunteer time slots include oral session and poster session monitors and assistance with social events to name a few of the positions available. And if you are in Montreal “pre-symposium,” please add some time on Saturday afternoon to assist with collating the symposium kits (that time slot will be scheduled for 10:00–16:00; six hours).

In return for the 20 hours of service, volunteers receive a refund of their registration fee within 30 days following the end of the conference and a lunch voucher for each day of volunteer assignment.

A link will be available to register here after March 1, 2020.

Student Competitions

Each year the AP-S/URSI symposium holds a student paper competition and a student design competition. Please be sure to support your fellow students on Tuesday, July 7 by visiting the Conference Foyers at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth for both the Student Paper Competition and the Student Design Contest. The Finalists for each will be posted prior to the opening of the symposium.

The Canadian National Committee (CNC) and the United States National Committee (USNC) of URSI are pleased to announce a Student Paper Competition to be held at the 2020 North American Radio Science Meeting in Montreal. This competition is jointly administered by CNC-URSI and USNC-URSI, and is open to all students participating in the conference that are enrolled at colleges or universities in Canada or the U.S.
